Learn More About Vision & Lenses
SINGLE VISION Single Vision prescriptions are for patients who have trouble seeing either near or far (but not both). They are lenses which have a single prescription over the whole lens.
BI FOCALS Bifocals are eyeglass prescriptions with two distinct optical powers. Bifocals are commonly prescribed to people with presbyopia who also require a correction for myopia, hyperopia, and/or astigmatism.
HIGH REFRACTIVE INDEX High Refractive index lenses are lenses that have greater ability to bend light rays to provide clear vision for people with stronger prescription spectacles. High Refractive index lenses are manufactured to be thinner and lighter overall.
PROGRESSIVE Progressive are spectacles with special lenses that let you see clearly at all distances no matter where you focus.
OCCUPATIONALS Occupationals are a design in prescription eyewear that allows the wearer to view reading and intermediate distances and also gives a wider field of view, orders can be made from one to six metres away.

Optics First
Optics First introduces a new generation of sophisticated lens designs providing exacting standards of vision for the discerning progressive lens wearer. It is a radical approach which reverses the normal design process and has allowed the lens design to be created from the outset with a very smooth mean power profile. Provides premium progressive lens design with superior comfort. Provides sharp viewing in any direction. Minimizes blurring or "swim effect" experienced with traditional progressive designs. Results in faster patient adaptation times and greater patient satisfaction.

Eye View
Ophthalmic lenses have oblique power errors which are present when viewing away from the optical centre of the lens. Eye View technology uses specially developed software which incorporates the results of raytracing over the entire lens to correct for these errors. Standard values of back vertex distance and pantoscopic tilt are used in these complex calculations. More consistent optical performance over the range of prescription powers Wider viewing areas for hyperopes (plus prescriptions) Improved distance area for myopes (minus prescriptions) Improved image quality in principal viewing areas

Prescription Compensation
Prescription Compensation is an extension of the EyeView principles, were an individual's back vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt and face bow are used to adjust the sphere, cylinder and axis of the prescription to give the best as worn condition possible. This involves using a complex model of how the eye looks through the lens.
